Certificate in Fourth World Studies or Traditional Medicine

CWIS Fourth World Institute and Center for Traditional Medicine
Casa Xipe Totec Learning Retreat and Traditional Medicine Clinic
Yelapa, Mexico

The Certificate Program in Fourth World Studies or Traditional Medicine offers a substantial or adjunctive source of on-site and on-line course work, credit, internship/fieldwork and research/clinical training for those pursuing graduate degrees at other academic institutions. CWIS serves as an internship and fellowship site for students throughout the world. Rudolph Rÿser (Fourth World Studies) and Leslie Korn (Traditional Medicine), along with other CWIS faculty serve on masters and doctoral degree committees for students at colleges and universities in the United States and elsewhere in the world. Enrolled Certificate students may include their Certificate Program as a part of their MA or MA.Ed program through Lesley College.

Certificate requirements for both programs include on-site attendance in Mexico (at the Casa Xipe Totec Learning Retreat, Yelapa, Mexico) for a total of 4 months, one month each in January and June, for 2 years. During this time students attend seminars, work as interns and receive supervision of their research and/or clinical projects. Certificate students are also required to participate in two, on-line seminars held during their 2 years of study when they are not actually at the Casa Xipe Totec Learning Retreat in Mexico.
